Our Light

August 2022

In the end

We are nothing by hearts and bones

A core of light.

Peaking over the horizon at sunrise,

Exploding at the end of the day

One last final effort before dipping away.

Souls

Living, thriving, growing, loving.

Light explodes from the chest of the soul who had an emotional breakthrough.

Oozes from the soul stuck and looking for help

Too afraid to ask.

It radiates from the crown of the head of the soul who found love

For herself.

Light nestles in the chest of the soul who was held and heard by another.

Not fully understood, but not needing it to matter.

Beams of light push to the surface of the skin, making the soul who found new, meaningful friendship glow with excitement and possibility.

We are hearts and bones

Skin and nail

Tissue and fluid.

Strip away layers of

Pain, suffering, fear, anguish, hate

And we are our light.

Let us shine bright

A beacon for love.

The lighthouse stands tall and proud.

Let us keep our light safe.

Safe from hate and judgment

Safe from criticism.

Wrapped in our arms, tight to chest

Our light is ours.

Not something for another to take or abuse.

Let us share our love

With those in need

A hug

A gentle glance

An ear to listen but not fix.

Our light is a path to live by

Our light is our strength

Our light is our love.

Today

I walk out into the world

Excited. Ready.

To greet the day.

To greet my life.
